Newly-elected State Representative Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne) 120th called on city officials to remove President Joe Biden’s name from signage on the expressway that leads into Scranton, claiming it “will forever be a scar” to the people of northeastern Pennsylvania.
Pugh’s call for action stems from President Biden granting clemency to disgraced former Luzerne County Judge Michael Conahan. Conahan and former Judge Mark Ciavarella were convicted of accepting millions of dollars in kickbacks for sending thousands of juveniles to two private detention centers in which they had a business interest. The juveniles were wrongly imprisoned for minor crimes, if any crime at all. The ordeal became known nationally as the “Kids for Cash” scandal. Pugh condemned Biden and his administration for the move.
“Conahan’s conduct is forever a blight on Pennsylvania and is a slap in the face to the victims and their families who deserve justice to be served for his atrocious crimes. His clemency places complicity and a stamp of approval on his behavior,” Pugh said. “Children are among the most vulnerable Pennsylvanians. This decision is nothing short of a travesty and his clemency is a miscarriage of justice.” […]
… Earlier this year, an online petition was started and has now garnered over 19,000 signatures in favor of scrubbing the President’s name from the highway into the Electric City. The petition also calls on the city to change Biden Street back to its original name, Spruce Street. …

Let’s go Brandon Avenue.
Pedo Pete Place. Kinda creepy.
That’s a good one!
It should be renamed “Pardon Me Biden” Way
Of course, the Democrat Commissioner says it should not change because Biden made one bad pardon.
Well, Democrat Commisioner, Biden pardoned multiple gov’t employees who violated their trust.
But you will ignore that because Democrats side with criminals over citizens every time.
Dog face pony soldier!
Whenever I drive through Scranton and see these signs I laugh… a lot.
They might try getting rid of Al Gore’s name from EVERY interstate in Tennessee. (Technically, they are named for Al Gore SENIOR, but there is no distinction made. The fact that they are named for a monstrous segregationist and opponent of voting rights would be a delicious reason, however.)
Put Hunters name on the sign
Politicians should NEVER have things named after them.
Disgusting
Let’s call it “Dementia Parkway”
I accidentally got off the freeway onto the Biden Expressway once. Within about a half mile, it goes to 35 mph. Perfectly fitting to name it after a moron like Biden.
I gag every time I see the sign. Please change it.
Scranton is a good place to BE FROM. Many good people live there. Have many pot holes as well!
The Go Brandon Ten-Percent Tollway
“That’s right, suckers. Ten-percent o’whate’ers in yer wallet goes to the Big Guy!”
George Washington has the nation’s capital and a whole state named after him.
Then again, he was a statesman rather than a politician.
