Maybe it’s time to put the old Dumont out to pasture.

I thought this would have to do with Elvis Presley shooting TV sets.

I set a box of old Popular Mechanics magazines at the curb, no one took them. I taped it shut good and wrote “Old Playboys” on the box and it was gone in an hour.

People say our little town is crooked and full of druggies, but we have never had a porch pirate, and we get a lot of Amazon deliveries, and due to logistics, sometimes big packages get left on the porch for some time.

Got some old NTSC CRT tv’s in the basement. Rigged a transmitter so they can still be watched.

This plan is not recommended for any CA residents since the value of the stolen item is under $1,000.
Lol.

In the early days of HDTV I bought a 34" Sony.I paid about $1,000 for it and it was said to be about the best that was available. The thing weighed a ton and the screen was small and the picture was certainly better than a regular TV but it certainly wasn't great.
A year ago I bought a 55" LG. Paid just over $1,000 for it (it was an open box at Best Buy) and its said to be close to the best you can find.
It's light enough for me to lift and move myself, the screen is more than big enough for my not that large condo and watching a BBC nature disc in 4K the giraffes look like they're in the living room with us.

Just curious, but why did you bother? What would you watch on an old 4.3 aspect ratio with poor resolution compared to today's 16.9 with high resolution, not to mention the now 4k resolution? Maybe for old Beta or VHS tapes in a connected player?

Only thing better would be to include anout 1/2 kilo of C4 set with a geofenced fuse set to go off 1/2 mile down the road.

Some late model CRT TVs can fetch $$$, especially Sony’s with Trinitron picture tubes and component and composite AV inputs.
These are highly desirable in the retro-gaming community.
