Very interesting article. Seriously doubt that our world can be simulated to the point where every action doesn’t turn into some kind of butterfly effect.

Reality is that “all models are wrong, though some are useful” is a rule written by George Box in 1976...To repeat: ALL models are wrong, though some are useful. That should be the underlying rule of modelling, though it’s often ignored.

I’ve been writing and using models since my first on a vacuum tube analog computer, a Pace 231R, in 1967. I can prove that all been wrong from the data. I’ve also found that some had been useful. Unfortunately, many were mis-used, too. That certainly is the case with AI.

“If a feather drops with the weight of an anvil or a bowling ball shoots up hundreds of feet into the air, it’s jarring and takes the viewer out of the moment. With a strong world model, instead of a creator defining how each object is expected to move — which is tedious, cumbersome, and a poor use of time — the model will understand this.”

AI generated pictures have some of the same issues - red flags going up in our sub conscience... The world view thing might make robots more effective in ten years but it could also change the consensus on what reality is... not as good an outcome.
