I would much prefer to get my own blood back, than to get someone else’s.
For voluntary surgeries, this could be something we could request; however, this was only for liver surgery.

I was given a transfusion during my transplant surgery. I’ll have to ask my hepatologist if they did this with my own blood. All I remember immediately before surgery was being prepped for a spinal block, they started to give me something in the IV for the spinal block, and it was lights out for about 8 hours, and it was all over.
