I've been saying it since the end of the Cold War.
NATO should have ended when the Warsaw Pact ended.
A good follow up would be getting out of the UN.

I agree with you. But NATO is our favorite power tool. There is no way we will let go of it. Too many powerful interests want to keep NATO, and there is no way they would allow this. Our Congresscritters love NATO, too. It will not happen.
