No it wasn't. This is just more "interpretation" by our idiot court system, and they deliberately got it wrong.
First amendment does *NOT* give equal footing to all other religions. Christianity was the default religion of the US Constitution. What the 1rst amendment does is to protect various denominations of CHRISTIANITY from being discriminated against by other denominations of CHRISTIANITY in the Federal government.
Their usage of the word "religion" means *DENOMINATION* in the context of what they wrote.
The US Constitution exempts the president from working on the Sabbath and it expressly acknowledges Jesus when it concludes "Year of our Lord"...
People have taken it to mean any religion is protected, but that is *NOT* the intention of the 1rst amendment. That was *NOT* the intent of the states which ratified it.
The framers would have beaten and arrested anyone who dared put up such a vile abomination on public land, or private land for that matter.
The American people of 1789 would *NOT TOLERATE* Satanists in any form.
More importantly it says
Establishment of religion
Satanism has never been an established religion in the U.S. or the world.
That legal distinction is always ignored.
It is in fact anti religious and all their advocates are vociferous on that point.
