Putin Abruptly Replaces Top Commander on Critical Ukraine Frontline
Newsweek ^ | 12/13/2024 | James Bickerton

The Kremlin has appointed Lieutenant General Andrei Ivanayev as commander of the Vostok Battalion group of forces, which is leading the assault in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region, according to state affiliated media.

The popular Ukrainian military Telegram channel Country Politics, which has more than 290,000 followers, reported Ivanayev's appointment on Friday suggesting it was tied to a visit by Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov to the region.

Over the past year, Russian forces have made grueling but steady advances in the Donbas, which President Putin formally annexed as part of Russia in September 2022 though his troops only partially control it. However this has taken place at a massive cost to Russia.

Read post 59 about that years old mishap, and post 46 for the question I asked you and that you keep ignoring.

Let’s use logic.
Why would article 5 be getting mentioned in the one article, why do you suppose ... Hmmm...
It’s a puzzle no zeeper can solve!
(Regardless of how much they screamed out at the time to invoke article 5)

LOL, read post 59, your imagination has gone wild on that relatively meaningless missile mishap from years ago.

It is clear you were lying about your claim of the Ukrainian president asking in NATO.

“ Save it. The USA is the only member that has any weight. The rest are worthless pipsqueaks or strategic liabilities.”

Okay let’s go with that, and Russia has been spending 3 years trying to take a few villages, crossroads , and towns from Ukraine with limited assistance from USA and NATO.

Russia is now reliant on China, NK, a now a much diminished Iran, and others for manpower, equipment and ammunition.

What does that make Russia?

“””””Zelensky was asking for NATO to step in””””””

You keep posting the same old meaningless story about an errant missile from years ago instead of Zelensky asking NATO to send in troops.

He did.
Why do you think he had that missile launched into Poland?
And you are forgetting all the press over it at the time.

But I’m having fun watching you splutter and claim it never happened.

You lie a lot, and that meaningless missile incident was well discussed here years ago and it doesn’t equal the president of Ukraine asking NATO to send troops to the war, your imagination is out of control.

“What does that make Russia?”

A paper tiger. It blows to hell and gone the Ukraine warmongers claim that if Russia defeats the Ukraine, the next thing you know they’ll invade Europe and be on the English Channel. You can’t have it both ways. You prideful, arrogant Uke nationalists are just trying to drag the USA into the war.

That is a nice try, but until Russia proved itself to be inept no one thought of them as a paper tiger with nukes.

So why doesn’t Putin takes his paper tigers and go home?

The fact is Putin thought he and his army were undefeatable, like Iraq’s 4th biggest military till it was destroyed in weeks.

He continues to put his country through his war because he knows that if he quits he is gone.

“That is a nice try, but until Russia proved itself to be inept no one thought of them as a paper tiger with nukes.”

Just stop. We knew it all along. we could have crushed them at any time since 1945, but our people and statesman decided it wasn’t worth the cost, and we are not aggressors.

“So why doesn’t Putin takes his paper tigers and go home?”

Probably because Russia has the upper hand. Right now, Russia is slowly grinding the Ukraine down in an attritional battle. I get it you’re proud of your country but face the cold hard facts. Being a much weaker power, it is a losing situation for Ukraine as the USA is not going to join the war and Russia can outlast Ukraine.

""""we could have crushed them at any time since 1945, but our people and statesman decided it wasn’t worth the cost, and we are not aggressors.""""

That is a ridiculous thing to say and to think, America and Western Europe, all of NATO knew that we would be lucky to survive the Russian onslaught if they launched their masses of tanks and troops.

Ha, and you’re the one who is always bragging about how big and bad NATO is. Like I said, we would have crushed them. Yes, they had a lot of stuff, and they probably would have got off to a good start, but we always had plans to counter them.

That isn’t what those of us who were on those front lines thought, and no, I don’t brag about how big and bad NATO is, you made that up just as you made up this idea that NATO was so big and bad during the Cold War that they would have easily dealt with the Soviet forces.

There was a reason that we kept so many tactical nukes in place on that front and brought in the Neutron nukes.

“that they would have easily dealt with the Soviet forces.”

Liar, I didn’t say easily. I said we would have crushed them. That’s not the same thing.
