I know people who have been smoking the evil weed for 50 years or more. I also knew people who were alcoholics. The alcoholics didn’t make 50 years, they’re all dead. In spite of all of the “reefer madness” articles pot is nowhere near as harmful as booze. Not to say you should be a pothead, but enough of the hysteria.
This isn’t your granddaddy weed...
Sure- alcohol destroys the liver and immune system. The point about this methylation of genes in individuals is the very specific confirmed causality of frank, permanent schizophrenia in genetically identified populations. This is not hysteria- it is real science. And not the fakir Fauci kind of science.
Should add that pot and lung cancer links are definite. Having nothing against oral ingestion of THC in people whose brains are fully developed (over 30 years old), it’s clear the lungs are affected by vegetable smoke in chronic use- that alone along with the genetic damage to lung cells. Smoking (tobacco and other vegetable matter) of pot generates 100s of to date not fully identified carcinogens in that smoke. In total not a benign drug (THC/cannabis) and neither obviously is booze.
Not preaching here- this is clinical differential diagnosis. It is very upsetting to livelong chronic users who have definite addictions they deny. All here are familiar with the lingo.
30+ years for me. My good friend, a man I loved and called brother, was an alcoholic. 2 years ago, he went on a binge that ended with him stringing himself up in his garage on Memorial Day. What's interesting is that attributing schizophrenia to cannabis use doesn't make sense. I don't hear voices or see things that ain't there after 30+ years. My buddy, on the other hand, spoke often in the year leading up to his suicide about the people he used to see coming out of his bathroom sink drain.
Cannabis prohibition is proof positive that "Conservatives" LOVE big government, just as long as it is THEIR big government.
