For the first time in history, the White House displayed the AIDS Memorial Quilt on the South Lawn on Sunday, December 1 — marking an extraordinary and emotional World AIDS Day ceremony. The event, led by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, was both a celebration of progress in the fight against HIV and AIDS and a sobering reminder of the epidemic’s human toll. For some in attendance, it was also a moment of grief as the specter of President-elect Donald Trump’s impending administration loomed large, threatening to undo years of progress in LGBTQ+ equality and public health policy.

About 28 years ago, I took my son to a San Francisco Giants baseball game on a warm summer Sunday afternoon. Wouldn’t you know it? It was “Let’s Celebrate Buggery” day at the ballpark. We were on the third base side not far off the field when they unrolled the Buggery Blanket in the outfield. Try answering your five year old’s question: “Dad, why are they unrolling that big blanket on the baseball field?”
I was totally unprepared for Buggery Day and Buggery Blanket, so I yammered something like “Some people are celebrating something, son. I’m not really sure what they are celebrating.” Thank God some busybody Karen didn’t butt in and explain the details.
Oh, please do elaborate. Don't just say he's a big old meanie. Tell us why. Give us specifics on what will be changed, other than no more men in womens' rooms.
Public health policy would be better if you were not spreading your disease to anyone and everyone indiscriminately.
Biden’s Presidential library should be in the men’s room at a public park.
That’s right.
So the quilt was displayed for the first and and last time. Good. Next, the flags.
Keep it out of dark exits and you’ll be fine. No quilt needed.

“threatening to undo years of progress in LGBTQ+ equality and public health policy”
What is going to be undone is the massive censorship, canceling and intimidation campaign against the American people.
Why dont we have Syphilis Appreciation Day or grade school drives for higher TB and gonorrhea rates.
Those haven't earned "civil rights" status like AIDS has.
I am old enough to remember the glee when that poor boy got AIDS from fa66ot infected blood so the fa6s could say “ AIDS I’d not a gay disease.”
The left tells us that to ignore AIDS is to be homophobic. The left also tells us that we shouldn't call AIDS a gay disease.
Oh, they LOVED that an innocent child contracted AIDS. They hoped to piggy-back on that innocence somehow.
Succinctly and well said.
What exactly do they want from us?
If you think most women are sexual assault victims cuz men are rapists waiting to happen, and you want to force women to share locker rooms with men ... you might be a Democrat.
If you think cops are always evil, and you think no one should be allowed to carry a gun except cops ... you might be a Democrat.
If you think people are born straight or gay with no choice on if they're attracted to males or females, and you also think people aren't born male or female themselves, the choose that ... you might be a Democrat.
I could go on and on.
Another maddening double-think inanity.
“Sex and gender are completely different.”
“Trans-women ARE women.”
Bone smuggling….the leading cause of the AIDS quilt
Yes, quite catty remark. As might be expected.
That’s an old quilt.
Warriors from another era, self-inflicted but tremendous suffering.
December 7th wasn’t a passing thought.
