Free Republic is of course a private site. The owner can block (censor) anything he feels like, and make any rules he feels like. It’s all about property rights, something we visitors should respect.

There is also censorship in a real republic. The most famous example of which is you cannot yell “fire” in a crowded theater.

What if the theater really is on fire? Are we supposed to quietly leave without letting anyone else in the theater know?
