Per the horse’s mouth...

ED’s 4,400 employees and $68 billion budget...

And keep in mind that every state has a Dept of Ed.

NYS’s DofE LinkedIn pages admits to 1,768 employees.

Well heck, just add some points to every kid’s test score and get them back to what they used to be. Problem solved.

Scores have been falling since the creation of the Department of Education.

Amazing. Perfect storm. Assad falling. Iran thinking twice. DEI in colleges and big business going down. It’s either fear or getting ahead of the curve-gonna be awesome.

This is the introductory page for the Education section of Project 2025:

No wonder the Lefties scream about Project 2025!

The Department of Education is one of their most Sacred of Cows, wholly controlled by them, and dedicated to indoctrinating K-12 students in DIE (Marxism).

The US Education department has nothing to do with ‘education.’ It plainly is just the money spigot for federal cash to local schools whereby the government threatens its removal if certain “standards and measures” aren’t implemented.

“ED’s 4,400 employees and $68 billion budget...”

That is $68 billion the locals do not see anymore.

Having direct observation of public education for 25 years, priorities are wrong. I have a tainted view because I’m in an inner city system. Lots of time trying to de-feral them and get them to fit in a structured system. Then it’s “how to treat people” the 3 R’s are way down the list

Arrest Randi Weingarten and charge her with child abuse. Then every parent participate in a class action lawsuit against the NEA and AFT.

Propose as a solution, aside from disbanding the US Department is Education, pay teachers by performance. Pay them higher salaries and let them choose their own healthcare plans and 401K’s. They can then pocket the union dues and do what they are being paid to do which is teach.

I have sometimes posed the rhetorical question, as to whether the state of public education has improved , since we created a Department of Education.

That would depend on what these students were meant to improve in, it certainly wasn’t to be education or to be striving to be your BEST!! Now if they were meant to improve in being wards of the state with little minds of mush they have improved 1000%!

I wonder how many of the “teachers” are actual illiterates?

Education majors are notorious for having the lowest SAT scores of all majors.

It used to be that teaching was where smart women went.

change the demographics and you change the test scores.

Open borders and ‘diversity’ have consequences.

Recall that the implementation of Obama-Bill Gate’s Common Core began the destruction of education in America.

Hillsborough County, Florida, 2024 election hijacked by the thug public employee labor unions here (there are now three of them). Yeah, Florida is a "Right To Work" state--just not in the classroom. These unions represent 15,160 public school teachers whose jobs are already guaranteed, and come with extensive employee benefits, since they are already county government employees.

These union thugs just ran over the County School Board (what a joke) and the County Commission (an even bigger joke) and forced a referendum onto the ballot which when passed indentured all 455,000 homeowners in the county with a massive property tax increase to give these entitled teacher-jokes a $6,000 a year salary hike for the next four years ($24,000 per teacher total).

The tax bill for this largesse will be over $456,000,000. This is because the poor darlings' current bonanza salaries "don't match" what other Florida counties offer their teachers. Poor babies.

Welcome to maketplace economics folks, where everyone has to earn the same amount of money otherwise "it's not fair". And guess who voted for this homeowner ripoff? All of the wise and selfless residents who do NOT own homes and pay NO property taxes.

Next, US News & World Report in 2023 published statistics for Hillsborough County as to student performance on math and reading standards. The report found that 61% of the students in the County do not meet minimum required reading and math standards.

Next, if you happen to live here for any length of time you will notice our teachers are home more days than they work, and every time you turn around there is a "no school day" for every conceivable reason, not including weeks off for every major holiday on the calendar, an enormous Summer vacation, and for every false claim that a massive generational hurricane is coming, the schools close in a heartbeat and the teachers get paid vacation number four at the expense of the tax-bashed struggling homeowner.

Florida advertises itself as a "no tax state" but it never tells you that the no-tax on income only applies to residents who are either on public assistance, are apartment renters, or are tourists and snowbirds. God help you if you are stupid enough to buy a house or a condo down here. You are every special interest group's favorite little piggy bank, including the goddamned labor unions who--like the vultures they are--have relocated from the North to warmer climes, and have found fresh meat to feast upon.

If we just made it a FELONY for any Public Employee Nationwide to send their minor children anywhere other than the Public School System for their Primary Education with removal of the children from the Family Home and put in to Foster Care to get a Proper Education for those that don’t.

The problems would be fixed overnight

Infiltrate the U.S. with 20 million un-educataed 3rd world students and force their integration into every classroom, add in domestic snowflake students with poor motivation because “parents”, and then test them using standardized testing. Yeah, you may see a fall off in test scores. Generally it’s called the “dumbing down of America”. Less generally it’s called the destruction of the west.
