Ten people have been injured and one person is reported to have been killed in Palm Springs, California, after a police officer riding a motorbike crashed into a crowd.
Spectators had gathered for the 32nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday night when a PSPD traffic officer performing a stunt lost control of his motorcycle.
Footage shows the officer traveling at speed down the road within feet of where bystanders were watching the procession just after 6pm.
The officer and bike plowed into the crowd on the parade route at Palm Canyon Drive and Amado Road.
Eyewitnesses said the officer lost control of his bike as he attempted a trick, severing his hand in the process.
The motorcycle continued on without him, plowing into the crowd and colliding directing into an elderly couple while also injuring many other bystanders.
Officials report ten people have been injured, although none are considered life threatening, the city explained.
Palm Springs Police Department told how officers were on motorcycles in order to control traffic along the parade route and to make sure none of the spectators were standing in the road.

Sensible motorcycle stunt control laws. That’ll fix it.
Dumb pea brain fuzz show-off!
I guess he won’t do that again! What a stupid thing to do! I hope the injured people have a full recovery.
Article says 1 killed.
Cop - Accident.
Civilian - Vehicular Manslaughter.
If I understand it correctly, the officer was simply supposed to control traffic and keep pedestrians out of the street, not do tricks.
The city will have quite a lawsuit after that.
Severed his hand?
It’d be interesting to follow his reconstructive surgery.
It will be deemed an accident and the officer will receive a citation and compensation for being injured in the line of duty.
A civilian would be charged and convicted of Vehicular Manslaughter and get seven years in prison.
Somebody’s family is gonna own themselves a police department.
Seriously?! Was performing this “stunt” done on the clock? Is that what the police are for?
Most of the PSPD cops are homosexuals high on drugs, I’ve heard.
