These findings are always astonishing to me.
...minutes after a stroke occurs, normal gut anatomy is completely disrupted...Most notably, cells responsible for keeping the contents of the gut sealed off from the rest of the body begin to erode, allowing digestive bacteria to leak out and cause harm to other bodily systems. Under certain conditions these bacteria can end up in the brain itself and disrupt its functioning.
Whoever would have thought gut damage would occur minutes after a stroke occurs and it would cause so much damage including to the brain. How do you research what happens within minutes of a stroke occurring?

Good point. It isn’t as if someone is following people around hoping for a stroke.
