Being awarded money and actually getting it are 2 different things

These crazy lawsuit numbers are why insurance rates are through the roof. There has to be some uniform standard to apply to awards.

Accountability and punishment for private entities but not one iota for government misconduct and even outright evil.

Does whoever inures Austrian-based amusement ride manufacturer Funtime Handels just write a check or do they appeal it themselves? I would think there are caps on any umbrella liability policy though?

Ben Chump? That “lawyer” name sounds familiar. I thought lawsuit awards had already moved to awards in the billions of dollars and all of the defendent’s New York Yankees souvenirs.

He knew he was too big for the ride.

The kid was 14 years old stood 6’5 and weighed 383 pounds, 100 pounds over the limit of the ride.

Yes, I saw the video. The operator wanted to keep him off but the crowd demanded he be allowed to ride.

Moreover, outsize jury verdicts are subject to judicial correction in post-trial motions, with appellate proceedings to follow.

Do you think the color of his skin had anything to do with the size of the ridiculous award?

I saw the video too. All I remember is hearing a big splat when he hit the pavement face down 👇

You would think that a Tyre would just bounce when it hit the ground.

Not to mention the “smash and grab” BLM riots, thefts, carjacking,.

"100 pounds over the limit of the ride."
If that is true, and documented, I would think the liability lies with the operator (the amusement park/staff), not the manufacturer (Funtime Handels).

I agree, this family deserves some money, but that is WAY out of line.
2-3 million tops for any life IMO
