Outrage as social media users gloat over assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

A congressman has condemned internet trolls currently gloating over the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

'Seems like leftists opposed to killing terrorists in the Middle East support killing CEOs in Midtown Manhattan,' wrote Representative Dean Phillips after Wednesday's murder outside a Hilton hotel in NYC.

Phillips, a Democrat who represents 50 year-old Thompson's home district in Minnesota, spoke as online ghouls rejoiced in the cold-blooded execution of the healthcare chief.

Among them were one tweeter who wrote: 'Brian Thompson ran a company based off exploiting people during the most vulnerable times in their life.

'I'm not sad he's dead.'

Another shared a gif of a pastor praising Jesus, writing: 'CEOs of predatory corporations getting popped, turn this up. Peace out, Brian Thompson.'

Bluesky user Templin Jay wrote: 'I’m not condoning murder but if they’re gonna kill people, I can’t object too strenuously to them choosing someone who made his fortune making healthcare worse and more expensive.

'Cæsar had his Brutus, Charles the First his Cromwell, and Brian Thompson, some guy in a ski mask. If this be treason…'

Bluesky user Leslie Rising wrote, 'blue cross next,' referencing another of the country's health care companies.

Others offered less tasteless criticism of Thompson's murder while accusing United Healthcare of 'killing tens of thousands of Americans every year by denying them health coverage.'

The rapid criticism of Thompson following his 6:45am shooting quickly sparked widespread condemnation.

Why don't people ever say this about government, politicians and government employees when Government intervenes and screws up their lives - which occurs every day?

In Canada, for example, everyone agrees Government health-care denies and hurts many people "when they are most vulnerable," and their answer is to offer you assisted suicide. And self-righteous leftists cheer how compassionate they are.

Having experienced many Statements of No Benefit myself and having known of many others who also experienced the ‘excellence’ of American health insurance, I am neither surprised nor in mourning.

No doubt a democrat congressman who was gloating over the fact that Trump was shot in the head, and believes the DOJ and FBI are doing a fine job.

I am on Medicare and have United Healthcare as an additional coverage. For all of these morons that are complaining, no one is making them use United Healthcare. There are plenty of other insurance companies. Are these same morons happy with their Obamacare coverage?

These CEOs and healthcare companies are really government proxies. These corporations work hand in hand with government to exclude competitors via regulations. Small start ups cannot hire attorneys and compliance officers the way that these large corporations do. This is essentially a fascist model, anti-competitive model resulting in healthcare dictated by the government/corporate partnership for the benefit of the government and corporations.
I don’t condone assassination, but I cannot sympathize with the ethics of these corporate/government monopolies.

This was the Democrat congressman who ran against Biden in this year’s primary election.

I can't object too strenuously to them choosing someone who made his fortune making healthcare worse and more expensive.

Is he talking about Obama and ObamaCare?

Yep, it’s frustrating that many on Free Republic are happy about his death.

We don’t know any facts. It appears to be a targeted assassination, perhaps a mob hit.

Way too early to say he deserved it, or had it coming because of people’s issues with health insurance coverage.

That was my point. Government, either directly or indirectly is behind it all. why don't government bureaucrats get the same hate?

having known of many others who also experienced the ‘excellence’ of American health insurance,

its state-directed crony capitalism. Otherwise called "fascism" - the fusion of business and government for political ends.
