President-elect Donald J. Trump’s transition operation announced on Tuesday that it had belatedly signed an agreement with the Justice Department that will allow the F.B.I. to conduct background checks on people Mr. Trump intends to appoint as senior officials in his new administration.
F.B.I. background checks have long been a routine part of transitions. Law-enforcement vetting of a president-elect’s senior team is normally part of decisions about whether they can be entrusted with access to national security secrets, and senators traditionally want to see such dossiers during the confirmation process.
But Mr. Trump, who is hostile to the F.B.I. because of its role in various criminal and counterintelligence investigations into him, had let weeks pass without signing the agreement.
His team considered bypassing the F.B.I. and instead using private investigators. Under that plan, Mr. Trump would grant security clearances to his picks after his inauguration, and the Senate would not have access to the usual vetting materials.
Despite the signing of the agreement, it remains unclear whether Mr. Trump’s team plans to send the names of all officials requiring a security clearance or Senate confirmation to the F.B.I. for vetting. The announcement did not say whether Mr. Trump would require his appointees to undergo the process or was simply allowing the F.B.I. to begin looking at those who are willing to submit to its scrutiny.

He needs to get Kash in there first. Then purge the place so that outside contractors can do the job and make sure the info is secure. Then Kash can publish the results to the senate with the FBI stamp having had no FBI employee anywhere near the info.
I think that’s it. Kash Patel is tremendously important. At this point, any FBI agents who mess with Trump are just cutting their own throats.>>. agree If he puts Kash in first then he can outsource the work and put the FBI stamp on it with no old FBI ever going near the info. Then proceed to purge the FBI.
“Signing this kind of agreement seems like it would be a refutation of that plan.”
Both Collins and Murkowski have stated they would not vote to confirm ANY of Trump’s nominees that did not undergo an FBI background check.
Petty games are always afoot.>>> Yes but Trump can get Kash passed first. Then outsource the background checks and purge the FBI. Put the FBI stamp on the reports for the Senate. Job done.
WHY???
Thry may not have missed them. They may have known and wanted them thru for Joe. I am worried about our side.
Hillary Clintoon doesn’t seem to have a problem with getting FBI records. It appears she can get them 500 at a time.
I was kidding. The only purpose of FBI checks is to vet the candidate to ensure they are sufficiently corrupt to do the bidding of the deepstate.
The FBI has already been doing their background checks. Who could stop them if they wanted to?
Not really... The FBI is going to end up checking them away for the Dem opposition
... So let them report You don’t have to take what they say is gospel
But it just gives you and idea what ammo the dem are going to have to smear against your nominees
“outside contractors” - The FBI has used them for years. You do know they are just retired agents doing them, right?? Tell me you didn’t really think they were independent of the government tentacles.
Signing an agreement with onehand, slow walking submitting any names to the corrupt FBI to begin espionage and oppo research on his political picks, on the other
Wray should be gone yesterday
