I predicted this a while back. I also suggested that older veterans (Vietnam era) could sign up to man desks, thus freeing up younger vets for tactical work.

In a day and age where almost nobody sends (or wants to receive) snail mail, and almost everywhere is reachable by commercial delivery, we have a US Postal Service of over half a million employees, which is more people than are US Army soldiers.
Companies transfer people between divisions and departments all the time.
Transfer 10,000 of the new IRS agents to Border Patrol. Fire the other 70,000.
Give the transferees six weeks of training. If they don’t want the new job, they can leave.
There’s more than enough border agents if you put them back on the border and not processing hundreds of thousands of illegals.
Shut down the border and have open target practice all along it.
Here you go. Find all the guys who plan on leaving the military in the next 6 months. Offer the good ones a big bonus to work the border, process them out and let them work their remaining time at the border.
As an added bonus, some may stay.
An immediate answer is to close all National Parks and National Forests in states where the governors refuse to cooperate with ICE and the Border Patrol. Then reassign all sworn officers to assist ICE and Border Patrol.

We can easily pay for it by firing 10,000 of Joe Biden’s 87,000 new IRS Agents. Hell, fire them all.
But we also need to use E-Verify or some other system to verify legal immigration status for employment and any publicly funded benefit.
