Irrelevant to many gun-banners. A gun banner once said she was opposed to concealed carry because she would be upset to know that someone near her might have a weapon. If concealed carry was not permitted she would feel much safer knowing that no one had a weapon.
Well, the term “Hoplophobe” was coined (I think by Jeff Cooper) as a pejorative.
But it’s also an actual thing (though the psychologists probably have a different word for it). The gun rights movement has come to realize that a certain fraction of their opponents are simply irrational, and cannot be moved by appeals to reason, fairness, history or even sanity, and have thus given up trying.
The past twenty years have seen a true sea change in the legal landscape of 2nd amendment law, with the good guys winning more than losing.
The next four years offer some good opportunities to continue those successes, though hard work will, as always, be required.
