She is a zaftig young lady who sang a breakout hit, "All About That Bass", which spent eight consecutive weeks at number one, the longest run for a female artist in 2014, and any Epic Records artist in the chart's history.
It was a catchy allusion to women that have the shape of a bass fiddle rather than a violin and the men who appreciate them.
Several years ago, she had an enormous hit, “All About That Bass,” about having a big butt. Sounds crude, but it was just so damned silly that it was fun. Very ‘50s/early ‘60s. (Bass as in the kind that rhymes with “face,” not the kind that rhymes with “ass.” Although she meant “ass.”) Had a few follow-up hits that were less fun.
