There are more accurate descriptors out there, something like leftist radicals, marxists.
Hippies? They were more like blue collar stoners.
What came out of the colleges in the ‘60s was noted as radical Marxists and hard core Communists especially the bigger universities.
As a side note Carmine Paglia talks a lot about this subject and although her background is somewhat lesbian, she does make a lot of sense and she rails against these college Elitist communist pigs and how many of the great minds of that era were totally burned out by hallucinogenics and faded into obscurity.
Those born between 1955 and 1965 have been sub-classified from boomers as Generation Jones. Boomers were the campus radicals. NOT the Jones’s... there is a difference.
Hippies were something else and didn’t earn law degrees and PHDs, none of those people were hippies.
