I just listened to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra version all the way through (first time in a while) and it never fails to send shivers down my spine and mists my eyes up, especially when the character of the song changes around 4 minutes.

What an achievement that was back in the 60’s. And there was so much good music done in films back then, it wasn’t appreciated very much at the time.

Nowadays, with the “quality” of music being what it is, that score is looked back on as a masterpiece.

I bet most musical scores for films these days are done by AI.
