Growing up in the Boston area in a Roman Catholic neighborhood, almost every home had a portrait of JFK in their living room (called a parlor back then). Usually over the piano (that never got played except Christmas Eve when the matron of the house would tap out "Jingle Bells" to delight the children). Surrounded by furniture covered in heavy plastic 99% of the time (except for Christmas or when company was over). The other furniture was covered with doilies and polished at least once a week with Pledge, purchased at the Stop & Shop.

The Kennedys were almost equal with the Pope back then.

Even the rascal Teddy, who cheated in Harvard, drowned a girl in the pond, and drowned his liver in Crown Royal, could not be criticized. Not unless you wanted to get the bum's rush out into the street.

They are going to come after RFK Jr however, since he's running with Trump these days.

My aunt had pictures of JFK and RFK with a picture of the Virgin Mary between them. I told her the Virgin Mary was not safe between those two. She was not amused.

Your front row comment is very interesting.

My Irish grandmother lived in Boston, was a precinct worker for, as I recall, Honey Fitz. My Irish mother was of course a Kennedy fan.

When I was eighteen, I had the wonderful experience working as the assistant to Stanley Tretick, the Kennedy’s favorite news photographer at the Dem National Convention in Chicago. . When Stanley and I walked into the hotel dining room, Jack and Jackie were sitting at a table near the door. Jack gave me a appraising look and Jackie glared at me. Apparently teenage girls were not too young for JFK to hit on.

Stanley was Jackie’s fave photographer and he went to their homes and to the White House. Did a wonderful book of photos, “A Very Special President” probably still on AMZ.

And speaking of books, I pre-ordered JFK Jr’s book on AMZ. Fortunately, my MD did not go to med school in the US where they are funded by BigPharma. So he didn’t think I needed a covid shot.
