Usually there's a reason behind the pay disparity. It may be as simple as that male employees possess higher value skills such as Engineers or IT. While female employees are secretaries or HR employees.

Time for Disney to create more DEI positions to address the pay disparity.

That isn't the way it works. People who do the same job with equivalent capability and equivalent experience are supposed to receive equivalent pay. I don't think that the plaintiffs anticipated a huge settlement. They probably wanted to illustrate a point.
