"...I guess robotic geishas are going to wind up being a mixed bag..." As long as there is a voice cut-off switch, how will that be a problem?

Reads like a really dumb Douyin (Chinese TikTok) scripted bit got out of hand on Chinese social media and caught the notice of the CCP and the PLA, and now both Chinese companies are literally maneuvering for their lives to back out of it.
Too bad. Send their filthy godless Confucian families the price of the bullets...

As one tracks back the the short video clip on YouTube, one finds it has a goofy sound track. Because “production values” are so-o-o important. Hoax.

Robot 2: Sorry. My interface port has a dust cover over it and Tech Support refuses to remove it.

YouTube posted video Nice "electronic" underscoring. Note when the computers "talk," they also wiggle like "characters" to indicate a response. It's all about the staging of the act.
From the Turing Test to Searle's Chinese Room, the measure is "are we fooled?" If we are, the test means one thing, and, if not, it means another. Who's fooled?

Having AI chat threads work independently and together in a collective conversation is very real...and impossible to predict where the conversation will lead.
Enabling physical robots connected to AI for discussion, especially if they have ‘function callbacks’ to invoke action, will lead to interesting results...along with, most likely, scary results.
I’m not saying I’m buying this story exactly but setting up multiple AI chatbots to discuss with each other is a very real thing being done every day.

:^) I think someone posted a graphic mashup in some other topic, yesterday or Monday.
When TNG was on the way, a script reviving the Mudd character was prepared, but alas, before production of episodes began, the actor (Robert C. Carmel) passed away.
TNG really missed the boat when they didn’t run into an armada of warships entirely crewed by Tribbles. Really angry Tribbles. Maybe genetically engineered by some hostile species that nevertheless had a dark sense of humor, or maybe just a group that discovered Romulan Ale or Klingon Blood Wine.

This is not far removed from the Waymo cars honking at each other in the wee hours of the morning. Or Furbies chattering at each other.

Reminds me of The Prisoner episode where the data person tells No. 2 that the computers simply refused to provide certain data. No. 2 replies, "Refused? They'll be wanting to form their own union next."
