Wait one minute!

The slander the guy, damage his reputation by accusing him of crimes based on faulty evidence, or no evidence. Then, one of the slanderers reads a statement in legalese. And, everything is now ok; just as if it never happened?

No, the damage is done. How does the legalese statement negate the slander?
