My Grandma didn’t make me any of this crap.
Any grandma who foisted wretched cheeseball on her family should even now be given the Pope Formosus treatment

My grandma dang sure never made anything with avocados.
Well, not you. All the rest of her beloved grandchildren, yeah. But, YOU were SPECIAL!! :)
Have you ever compared notes with others in your family about how they were invited to lots of more family getogethers that you never heard of?
👍
Yeah...like any grandma used a “rotisserie chicken”
BTTT
Macaroni Salad with Creamy Avocado Dressing? I don't think my grandmother even knew what an Avocado was.
Neither of mine either.
One served things like large stiff black chip things that she called pancakes (along with one of step-grandpas suckers burned in an old refrigerator) or a bowl of 25% water, %25 melted potato paste, and 50% half dissolved potato nuggets (which is a delightful accompaniment with a botulism daring venison sausage made in a sweat sock and paired with a bread yeast beet wine).
The other was a chef and I associate her with every meal being a fine dining experience including things like duck with perfectly crispy skin and fancy European style pastries and other baked goods.
Starting around Halloween and going through New Years it seems that every writer has to put out at least one cooking article.
Unfortunately there is a trend to make everything “modern” and “southern” where modern means Mexican and southern is code for cheap questionable ingredients and bad techniques. Most of these dishes are somewhat safer versions of the terrible garbage that would have come from a kitchen in which the first grandparents would have worked but with an avocado on it.
Somewhere between chasing stupid trends and apparently growing up in a home where tendies and microwaved mac were normal, the average American doesnt realize that they are actually selecting slightly elevated trash rather than recognizing and preparing proper food that one could proudly offer to guests.
“these dishes”=related to those in the many articles Im referring to, not necessarily those suggested here
