WALDORF, Md. - A second-grader at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School in Charles County was allegedly injured in a school bathroom incident, prompting his parents and advocacy groups to demand answers.
The incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 15, when two boys were in a school bathroom. One of the boys, a second-grader, ended up with the back of his jacket stuck on a hook in a bathroom stall. He began having trouble breathing and the other student ran to the office for help. The principal freed the boy and called 911.
The boy’s parents and advocacy groups are questioning how the incident happened and whether there were lapses in supervision or issues of bullying. The injured boy’s family states that their son is 7-years-old and the other boy involved is older.

When I was 7 in school, the nuns lined us up
In alphabetical order for trips to the BR. We went in in groups of three or four and lined up No one talked. And no one was doing any hanging kids up by a hook
Demanding answers?
People got rid of the nuns for being too rough
There’s your answer
The family should own that school.
How is this news? A bigger kid picked on a younger kid in the school bathroom. Unfortunate but common.
It’s Ok, the bully was actually claiming to be a girl... /s
I grew up in central West Virginia. I went to public school through the 9th grade, and my parents put my sister and me in a private Catholic School, even though we were not Catholic. The teachers were nuns and priests with a few lay teachers as well. Unlike public school, bullying and horseplay was not tolerated and I got a great education that prepared me for college afterwards. I still am in touch with my classmates who I dearly love.
Everyone I know from my Catholic school is successful and can carry on a logical conversation. The two are not mutually exclusive
If you went to Catholic Schools you most likely had parents that didn’t mess around. The parents were the fear not the school. You don’t embarrass your Catholic father by being an idiot at school.
There are many stories from the boys about it being ok to get haled into the local cop station but just don’t tell Dad.
I moved out of charles county 5 years ago - total mess politically and educationally.
Charles county is now majority minority and sinking fast.
Waldorf MD is a ghetto shxthole rampant with crime and drugs. It’s crime and scum spread from DC and ruined Waldorf and it’s spreading from there to there rural farming areas.
I am remembering a story I read from decades ago so not sure of the date or place other than it being a school but I recall a story where a young boy went to the restroom alone and was found dead hanging from a hook on the back of the bathroom door. IIRC, it was deemed an accident and no investigation took place. I can’t remember if it was a private or public school. He was young so couldn’t have gotten up there himself.
I have wondered over the years if the alleged killer felt any guilt about the death he got away with.
when I was in grade school all the classrooms rooms had a small, unisex toilet. The only problems we had was the lock. It was old and kids would lock themselves in.
That didn’t take long
What exactly are they protesting?
The nuns were fearsome. In my school it was the Sisters of Charity and no one crossed them without paying a price. One nun kept a class of 135 restless 3rd graders focused on whatever was being taught, without the smallest breach of discipline.
If the states take over DOE,MD will be dead last in education. VA is about to get a flood of new residents and MD’s best teachers
Time for a little, good old TEXAS payback. “This has to be expected, it occurred in the dirty little state of MARYLAND. People are leaving MARYLAND and going back to California every day.”
When I was in high-school, teachers routinely grabbed kids by the neck and chokced them- parents didn’t sue back then either- they rather disciplined their kids for having acted out
Saw one cafeteria worker jump, across the counter, up onto the line of tables, run across the tables, food flying every which way, and tackled 2 students who were fighting. He had one kid in a chockehold until the kid calmed down. Saw another kid get yanked off a stage and chocked out nearly by another teacher. Another shop class kid was being a dink toward the teacher who walked yp to him and grabbed him by the neck- the kid froze, not expecting it.
Yep, I went briefly to a Christian school, and when we acted out, we got paddled- THEN our parents took over- sadly some of us were incorrigible, but our parents and school did their duty, so no fault of theirs. The discipline was th3 best thing that could have happend, even if we resented it at the time.
I got paddled in 7th grade, for what I do not recall. Mr. Music, 6 foot plus, kindly told the boys to tuck themselves, and the whack wasn’t a love tap. I was always a good kid at school, and never told my parents, who would have reenacted the whole episode at home.
