Maybe they should have stuck with the name first proposed, Herschel (after the man who discovered the planet in 1781).

Or they could spell the name Uranos. The name is a Greek name, and Greek words ending in omicron sigma often are spelled -os in English (like Lesbos and Delos).

Sideways rotation? Am I assuming correctly that would be like pounding a nail into the 9 on a clock and the clocks rotation pivots on the 9? dont know how else to splain it!!

It is essentially ‘rolling around’ the Sun ‘laying’ on its equator. That’s why the rings are fully visible.........

Yes, we perpetually see either the bottom or the top depending on the reference...............

Yes, Ouranos would be more correct...but Greek omicron upsilon is often rendered simply by U.

Of course if the Ouranos spelling was used, the planet would jump ahead of Pluto and Saturn in the alphabetical order of names. But the planet is probably indifferent to that.
