The truly sad part is both were on the first ballot with Scott. You would think Thune and Cornyn would have split votes, allowing Scott to make it to the second ballot. Nope. The Senate GOP is so bought off that the two of them were #1 and #2 in the first ballot.
This reminds me of the last time I voted in a major election in California. 2016. The two final candidates for the Senate seat that year was Kamala Harris and Loretta Sanchez. That's right, two DEMs. And people wonder why I've been disillusioned with voting the past 3+ decades. Hell, back in Silicon Valley, Dukakis beat Bush in the 1988 election, although Bush did win California (thanks to Reagan). Last time a GOP candidate has taken California. 36 years.
