President-elect Donald Trump is expected to soon appoint a Ukrainian peace envoy to lead negotiations on ending the war with Russia, multiple sources told Fox News Digital.
"You’re going to see a very senior special envoy, someone with a lot of credibility, who will be given a task to find a resolution, to get to a peace settlement," one of the sources said.
"You’re going to see that in short order."
The job is not expected to be a salaried role - from 2017 to 2019, Kurt Volker had served as special representative to Ukrainian negotiations on a volunteer basis.

Ukraine will be forced to concede every inch of territory Russia possesses and agree to remain a neutral country, which is what it agreed to be after the end of the Soviet Union.
Russia and BRICS will back off attempts at de-dollarization.
Zelensky, his cronies and the Ukrainian oligarchs will be allowed to live and escape to their mansions elsewhere in the world.
Stop dreaming! I do not know what Trump has in mind but I do know that he is not the type to just give everything away. He knows that Putin also wants an end to this war and he will have to make some concessions. What they will be, I do not know, but there will be some.
You don't see to get it -- Russia will the entire country or render it uninhabitable if there Ukraine doesn't surrender and agree to remain neutral.
Neutrality would be reasonable concession and a justifiable demand from Russia. Indeed, Zelensky offered it and Putin could have it today if he were to leave Ukraine.
Russia is exhausted. It is doubtful that it could carry on the war for another year. Putin is not going to get his maximalist goals. He will have to make concessions or Trump will arm Ukraine to the teeth. Trump is not Biden and will not be pushed around. That said, Ukraine will also have to make concessions. The final form of an agreement is yet to be seen but it is not going to be the unilateral surrender by Ukrainian that you are dreaming of.
Russia will not tolerate a government hostile to Moscow, let alone one that is being armed, funded and trained by NATO.
Ukraine will cease to exist before that happens. That fact doesn't seem to sink that thick skull of yours.
