Nope. We shop Aldi and have for at least 7 years. We know the trends. It is not going down except in loss leaders and little spots. Maple syrup went down some last week. That is all we saw worth noting.
It’s a commodity
$2 for a small can of pumpkin. Nope.
Milk went up 10 cents here. No relief on beef prices — Aldi had ground beef on sale last week, but the supply only lasted a few hours. (This happens a LOT — do these CPI people actually check AVAILABILITY?) Pork roast was down 20 cents but it was more gristle & fat than usual - and that was after hunting for “the best one”. Fruit and veggies seemed steady. Great Value cut green beans came down to 50 cents, but, the amount of beans in the can is about 2/3 what it was! Aldi came down to match the price, so, that’s an actual decrease - we’ll see if it holds, which I doubt, as no other canned veggies came down.
This is entirely Aldi & WalMart. Can’t afford to sh
Southwest Florida here. No. But gas is around $2.93.
Nope. Still $7.29 for a .49 cent bag of potato chips.
I do think they knocked a few cents off of Helper Helper.
Haven’t seen it yet, but when the price of diesel goes down, most prices should come down with it.
Whups: Can’t afford to shop elsewhere unless “elsewhere” has a couple good sale items. And then they often run out.
Chicken necks: $4.00 per pound.
Our total cost has been trending lower lately instead of rising.
I would say no to list prices coming down for food. When stuff goes on sale, the price reduction maybe noticeable. A couple of examples:
I like lean high grade ground beef. It has been running around $8 a pound. Periodically it will go on sale for ~$6 a pound if the sell date is expiring that day. The best time to find these bargains is a hour or so after the store opens while the butchers are restocking the shelves.
I bought a few cans of Campbell’s chunky soup for $2 a can a couple of weeks ago. Depending on the grocery store the list price ranges from $2.8 to $3.3 per can.
Back in the Trump days, I’d find butter for $1.79 a pound when it was on sale. Now, if I can find it on sale, it’s going for $3.49 a pound or more. Usually it’s around $5/lb for the store brand lately. I’m starting to run out, so I hope it goes on sale soon.
Our local stop and shop always puts significant markdowns on meat approaching its sell by date.
On more than one occasion I’ve actually paid less for pork chops than for the shake and bake to put on them.
Not here in The Ozarks.
You have RC Cola on the list, you forgot MoonPies!
I shop in order (as food buyer)
Publix and Costco tie
Kroger
Walmart dollar general tie
And country groceries for indigenous foods posh groceries don’t carry
And Fresh Market on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays for two for one big fancy burgers and steaks
Chateaubriand filets and NY Strips half price I’m in …excellent meats
Stil family of four at least 300 a week
They eat well
Biggest ticket is soft drinks and moms Pinot Grigio and Milo’s tea by the gallon
Nope...if anything I’ve seen a bit of a rise on some items.
Those I can’t find locally
Not here. We went shopping this morning. A brick of Cafe Bustelo coffee , three years ago, could be had for $2.99- this morning I checked and it was $6.99.
Everything here is still up. This wasn’t Aldi. Schnuck’s.
