Summer of 2020 I’m sitting unmasked on a bench at the magnificent Rodeo Beach in Marin County, CA. There’s nice sunshine, a stiff breeze coming off the ocean and the beach has quite a few people on it. I’m having a very nice conversation with another gentleman sitting on the other end of the bench. His Karen wife shows up and proceeds to rip into both me and her husband ripping both us new orifices. She was shrieking at me for being unmasked, I’m going to kill people, etc. She was yelling “Where are you from??” I said right here down on the San Francisco Peninsula.
There is ZERO chance of catching a virus in that breeze. None. Yet she knew everybody had to wear masks. Her husband tried to calm her down and finally took her by the arm and escorted her away from me.
I had a few other interactions like that, but that one took the cake. It was the weirdest thing ever.
Santa Clara County has reinstated mask requirements at health facilities! I went to the clinic last week and the receptionist said “please put a mask on.” I said “No.” She said “It’s a county requirement” and I replied “I don’t care. The Health Director of the county is an idiot. I’ve had it three times, so I’m immune. It’s been FOUR YEARS! When is enough enough? All the research shows masks are useless.”
I thought she was going to call security and have me thrown out, but I got my visit done and never put on the stupid face diaper.
