1:51	·	1962 to
1:53	·	3 uh up until the time I left the
1:56	·	presidency the country was divided the
1:59	·	Press was divided and I would say 85 to
2:01	·	90% of the press was against me in the
2:03	·	law about 60% of the country was for me

I think Nixon should be credited with winning the Vietnam war and bring the troops home with honor and victory.

The Democrat Congress then defunded the defense of South Vietnam. Let that sink in. Consider Democrats defunding the police in some US cities. Democrats defunded the South Vietnamese military. There was also accompanying, complimentary legislation. Had President Ford attempted to send an aircraft carrier to provide air defense, the Democrats in Congress would have impeached him in a heartbeat.

The Democrats surrendered South Vietnam. They rendered the death of about 60,000 Americans pointless. That is what they did. Why? Perhaps so they could deny Nixon the credit he was due.

Sorry for the late response. Born in 53, my recollection was of LBJ and Nixon. Yes, the war was a very bid deal for both Presidents.

One can go back to Kennedy and before that to Eisenhower. I think a graph of either dollars or people would show the upswing under Kennedy and full-blown involvement under LBJ and Nixon. The main person who simply inherited the mess was Nixon, in my opinion. As President, Nixon got the job done. It reminds me somewhat of Grant getting the job done after his predecessors failed to make sufficient progress.
