South Carolina officials are actively searching for over 40 primates that escaped a facility Wednesday.
According to the Yemassee Police Department in South Carolina, 43 Rhesus macaque primates escaped the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center on Castle Hall Road around 1 p.m.
The website says the facility provides nonhuman primate products and global bio-research services.
A spokesperson for Alpha Genesis said the macaques are described as very young females, weighing about six to seven pounds. Officials said the monkeys have never been used for testing due to their young age and size and are too young to carry disease.
Currently, staff with the facility are watching the monkeys while working to entice them with food.

I fo not care about the signs.Too many people are permitted to harbor known dangerous animals. It is the responsibilty of the owner to make reasonably certain such animals CANNOT injure humans or other animals. The cage should have had no opening large enough for passage of even fingers much less chimpanzee paws.1/2 inch hardware screen is a stock item .
I firmly believe people harbor dangerous animals,be it snakes, pit bull or other similar dogs, lions, tigers, etc.,because of serious mental issues.
