More than 40 monkeys escape SC research facility

South Carolina officials are actively searching for over 40 primates that escaped a facility Wednesday.

According to the Yemassee Police Department in South Carolina, 43 Rhesus macaque primates escaped the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center on Castle Hall Road around 1 p.m.

The website says the facility provides nonhuman primate products and global bio-research services.

A spokesperson for Alpha Genesis said the macaques are described as very young females, weighing about six to seven pounds. Officials said the monkeys have never been used for testing due to their young age and size and are too young to carry disease.

Currently, staff with the facility are watching the monkeys while working to entice them with food.

Back in the 70s the guy that lived next to us had a full grown female chip.

He has to hide his car keys because she could bend them like paper clips.

She got loose in the convenience store next to his house one time while he was gone and tore it up.

After the convenience store incident my neighbor moved in with a lady at the beach that also had a chimp.

The cage environment was indoor outdoor with the outdoor section directly facing the beach.

Signs all over it warning of dangerous live animals DO NOT APPROACH.

Sure enough two kids walked up off the beach and got close enough for one of the chimpanzees to grab one if the kids hand and bit a finger clean off.

True story.....every word. ✋️
