The former president sees loyalty as a key criterion as he considers a mix of familiar faces and new allies for top positions.

the State Department leadership is likely to be determined from among three contenders: former National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien, Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.

Former US Ambassador Richard Grenell, who served as Trump's envoy to Germany, has emerged as a leading candidate for national security advisor.
The defense secretary position has drawn three prominent candidates: former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Representative Mike Waltz of Florida, and Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

For White House chief of staff, the highest-ranking position within the president's inner circle, veteran political strategist Susie Wiles has emerged as the leading candidate. Wiles, widely credited as the mastermind behind Trump's recent election victory, may be joined in the senior leadership team by former Trump White House official Brooke Rollins, who is also under consideration for the role.

I see from your other posts that you are a “Putin is the devil” neocon warmonger yourself.
Says more than enough that you are here defending Pompeo.
Again ... read the room, n00b .. NO ONE, here, is buying the Whoppers that you’re trying to sell.
Give it up!
Grenell is a good one for sure.
“In Pompeo’s own book, he admitted that he and Gina Haspel purposely withheld information from Trump”
This....
“I don’t know why . . . I just can’t trust Pompeo”
Perhaps the fact he served as head of the CIA before Trump appointed him Secretary of State. Before the CIA he was a member of the House of Representatives. He is also a graduate of Harvard Law School.
Pure elite swam creature.
To his credit he was one of a few senior Trump administration officials who didn’t resign after January 6 to diss Trump.
“Pompeo is all on for Ukraine”
No evidencde of it. He did not oppose Trump’s own policies on Ukraine.
“and wanted to assassinate Assange.”
He took the position Trump’s DOJ took.
“His diplomats were leading the charge against Trump in the first impeachment.”
They were not “his diplomats”. They were long State Dep people who preeceded into the State Dep before Pompeo, not by him. They had their own anti-Trump agenda and used “whilstleblower” status to chummy up to the Dims in Congress. With “whistleblower” status the head of State could not silence them. That was their thing not Pompeo’s.
Wikileaks was both a good thing and an bad thing. Some of the things it exposed rendered some needed tranparency, yet on the other hand the intelligence services were compromised. It was somewhat like throwing out the baby with the bath water. If it had occured during the “cold war” only the Left would have questioned how and why the U.S, government was going after Assange. In the years of the extended “war on terror” (2012+) it was taken just as seriously as if the Kremlin had done it in the Cold War.
“ Keep Senators in the Srnate. Especially a decent one. Grenell seems solid.”
***********************************************************
Agree. Unfortunately they did not clone Ric Grenell. We could use hundreds of him.
“He led the CIA that was constantly undermining Trump.”
Pompeo was not, no matter who under him or prior to him at CIA were feeding their views to the Dims in Congress.
I was undecided on Pompeo, until I saw you chime in.
Doing the opposite of what you advise is a good bet.
NO on POMPEO.
Scratch Grenell.
This poster is, indeed, a scummy little worm... isn’t he?
You are the primary Red Flag that Pompeo is a miserable choice.
Take your Pompeo and stick him up your Zelensky.
I can spot ‘em from thousands of MILES away ... ;-)
If I had Pres. Trump’s ear, I would advise him to make a considerably longer list of appointees. The first job should be to bust-up that monopoly they call “Homeland Security.” How delightful is it going to be to see Mayorkas’ resignation on the President’s desk on Day 1? Matter of fact, I’d love to see a laundry list of all those deep stater’s that will bee fired on Day 1. Make my heart glad.
“Look....It was Trump’s choice. .... Move on...”
Look ... the man can’t be trusted. He’s a snake.
“A verrrrrry interesting timeline about Nikki Haley inviting herself to speak at the GOP convention:
“Haley posted she was invited to the RNC at 5:42 on J13. Trump said she invited herself. He was shot at 6:11.
“@barnes_law reported Pompeo told Iowa delegates he would be VP. Was never on DJT’s list. With Trump gone you would have seen a Haley/Pompeo ticket. They knew.— Valley Frog 1776 (@ValleyFrog1776) July 20, 2024

And don’t be telling me to “move on”.
TRUST SESSIONS and all that Qrap.
“Pompeo helped Trump move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.”
He did a good thing; that doesn’t make him good. Pence helped Trump get the evangelical vote in 2016.
It’s going to be ROFLMAO funny watching the fringe peanut gallery explode when President Trump appoints a bunch of “neocons” from his first admin to again serve in his second term.
