Paul and Musk hint at joining Trump’s administration, merging libertarian principles with tech-driven efficiency.
Former Texas Representative Ron Paul, a long-time advocate for limited government and free-market principles, could potentially play a role in a future Trump administration.
Paul, known for his criticism of federal policies such as the Federal Reserve, mass surveillance, and the military-industrial complex, has expressed openness to the idea. Responding to Tesla CEO Elon Musk on social media platform X, Paul said he would be “happy to talk” with Musk about joining a potential Department of Government Efficiency.
Musk recently posted that he would welcome Paul’s involvement in the department, which he humorously referred to as the “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” alluding to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
Musk’s interest in a governmental role has become increasingly visible, with the CEO explicitly stating his willingness to serve in a Trump-led administration if the opportunity arises. Following Musk’s post, Trump hinted at appointing him to an advisory or official role if elected president.
Paul’s legacy in politics includes founding the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education (FREE) in 1976 and serving as the first chairman of Citizens for a Sound Economy. Often cited as the "intellectual godfather" of the Tea Party movement, Paul’s influence extends across fiscal conservatism and anti-interventionist policies.
If appointed, the combination of Paul’s libertarian principles and Musk’s tech-driven approach could bring an unconventional dynamic to government operations under a Trump presidency.
Ron Paul’s son Rand Paul for some reason did not endorse Trump. Personality differences? Not sure why. But he has been one of the most decent Senators in recent memory.
Yeah, I think this is good. It seems to me to signal that the Trump team is going to go hard after the Deep State, and that is fantastic news.
Ron Paul is so energetic and has a special touch with young people despite his age! I appreciate the views he has especially with regard to foreign wars and spending.
I don’t ever care about endorsements, on either side. I care about whether he supports the MAGA/MAHA agenda and is willing and able to get stuff done. My bet is he is, 100%.
I will start believing one or two things that Musk says as soon as he proposes scrapping all mandates and subsidies for ‘green’ energy, including EV’s.
Dept of Government Efficiency.
(Well that’s gonna be a LOT of pink slips)
It should be really interesting to see the democrat response to that move.
I don’t know. Department of Government Efficiency sounds counter-intuitive.
As a businessman, he goes where the profit is. He’d be stupid if he didn’t take advantage of the Democrats predilection for environmental scams. It’s legal. It’s profitable.
If he spent all his time trying to get Congress to pass bills that would make him rich, that would be another thing. But taking advantage of bills that will pass for what ever silly reason is just sensible.
That’s not the same with his space work. That is in his heart, not just his wallet. If he advocates for bills in that field, I support him completely.
I LOVE that he’s rich and he knows how to use his money for the right stuff.

But the world today, specifically our very own country, is in a different place.
The biggest threat to our citizenry and the health of our Republic is now our own government in the form of an enormous, unelected bureaucracy.
We need to fight this internal battle for our country, to get it back, and the election to get Donald Trump back into office is not much different than the shots fired across the Concord Bridge on April 19, 1775.

The next two years are our best hope. If we love our country, we cannot squander this time. We are only slowing down this ship so we can turn it around. Our domestic enemies in the form of the modern Democrat Party are going to fight us tooth and nail with every filthy trick at their disposal. It would be naive to think we will get the full benefit of the next four years, because they are going to cheat and steal in every immoral and illegal way they can, especially after the mid-terms which history tells us we will suffer losses in.
I fully support someone like Ron Paul having a role in this Administration where he will best serve this cause. If he is willing.
Because it is a cause.
Well said Mairdie
Absolutely agree and I really hope people understand and grasp that the reality is that you basically have two years to get the really hard stuff done. After that there will be a political drop off of capital and less and less important stuff will likely be accomplished.
Oh, I am fully on board with that concept. Especially if someone like Musk were involved in it.
This is the 21st Century.
We have had elements in this country, on both sides of the aisle, who were benefiting from clinging to obsolete, outdated, deliberately cumbersome and opaque 19th Century financial and governmental tools that obscured the ability to know where our tax money was going, and how those obscured taxpayer funds were to be spent.
We need to modernize and tie EVERY single government agency into a common system to administer money and departments.
And, in tandem, we need to get back to budgets. Real budgets that are not completely opaque to the citizenry. Budgets that show exactly what is going where, how much of it is going there, and what is being done with it. And it should be fully open for every citizen to examine.
WE NEED TO PUT AN ABSOLUTE STOP TO FINANCING AND RUNNING THIS COUNTRY ON CONTINUING RESOLUTIONS.
We need a line item veto for the President.
As it stands now, the Federal Government is a huge bloated barrel with holes in it into which taxpayer money is poured, and that money, unwatched by eyes that should care, is funneled away to things that not only don’t count, but are destructive to this country.
That is why we are $40 trillion in debt.
Trump may not be able to fix this country. It may already be fatally damaged. But the first rule of digging bad holes is: Stop Digging The Holes.
Exactly, FRiend...
Very well said sir. Thank you...
Rand is a riddle sometimes. I voted for him and I’m glad he’s there, but he can be a pain sometimes. He’s not immune to harebrained schemes, either. Case in point is his proposal to create another government agency to police gain-of-function research and bio-weapons. You ain’t gettin’ that horse back in the barn, and anyway it’s mostly just more fear porn. Trump doesn’t really care about limiting spending, which would not endear him to Sen. Paul. They’l be fine.
