I saw a documentary in which it was said that all the albums they recorded used studio musicians, excluding live albums, of course. It said that was the industry standard, which makes sense when you have a bunch of young performers without real musical training.

That’s very true industry wide. Studio musicians are the real pros. Most have played on a number hits in all different genres. In fact it caused problems for some bands that still did concerts. The songs on the albums did not quite sound like the live version.

I forget the song, but it was a huge hit sung by a studio back up singer on the album. The lead singer did not sound the same in concert.

If I recall a famous band had trouble matching the guitar riff done by a studio musician and left that riff out in concerts. I get bored sometimes and watch rock shows on YouTube. I like the Doctor of Rock. No worries these days everything can be fixed digitally.
