Labor saving is profitable. Industry would proceed regardless of the minimum wage. So what to do with all the Mexicans? Deporting them all would give more power to the lazy born-here folk. They at least don't complain. Pulling the welfare rug out from under the receivers won't be as efficient. A leopard can't change it's spots. Allowing the majority law-abiding to stay to do the low level service jobs is best.

Post offices all over the country. Have the illegals report to one, fill out a form and have a panel of local citizens determine their suitability like a draft board. This is a process that will take weeks. Fingerprint them.

Trump has the answer.

Good luck fining a fast food joint in California that doesn’t have kiosks for ordering food. We just went to a higher-tier seafood restaurant that (newly) only had ordering from a kiosk.

Robotization will continue apace:

“Fry robot is called Flippy and it “can fry French fries and chicken nuggets much faster than humans. …

Flippy never has translation confusion, daycare emergencies, car trouble, parent–teacher meetings and it will work a 24-hour sift without complaint. Plus, Flippy will never ask for an advance on a paycheck.”

He also won’t come to work drunk or high or call in sick 10 minutes before his shift starts on a very busy weekend.

Probably depends on the cost - robotics may not be cheap + there is maintenance too.

There’s probably a price point where it’s cheaper to pay workers, and over that cheaper to get the robotics.

Ai/Robot work arbitrage is coming either way. Min. wage is a small blip in coming neo Luddite war. The looming war will create vast amounts of social carnage and social fissures.

Automated fast food is inevitable.

The nonsense in California might speed up the process, but it will happen anyway.

And customers will prefer it.
