In his diary, Vinegar Joe referred to FDR as “Rubberlegs”. That didn’t see the light of day until Tuchman wrote that bio of him, AFAIK.

The ever-compliant butt-cheeks-spreading media of that day hid the fact that FDR spent most of his time in a wheelchair. During one of the wartime addresses to Congress, FDR apologized for delivering it sitting down, but complained that he didn’t feel like fighting the whatever pounds of steel on his legs. Appropriately, they gave him a round of applause. Radio listeners may have been puzzled.

Contrast that with the DNC shills today, who claim variously that Trump wasn’t actually shot, that he’s in poor health, or going into dementia, other fabrications, while, surprise surprise, giving the corrupt liar and senile ‘hole Biden the FDR treatment. In the topic title article, Shirley claims DJT saw her at some event (she speculated as to the decade) and claims he was undressing them both with his eyes.

A lot of speculation that FDR had terminal Cancer and they hid that too. He certainly looked like he had Cancer at Yalta.

“Wouldn’t it be something is the Harris loss led to the demise of the Democrat Party? “

I heard that mentioned in passing a couple months ago. Wow. Bringing together Trump, Vance, Kennedy, and Musk is so bizarre there has to be Something / Someone other-worldly going on. Then add to that a grazing bullet.

I doubt she was shocked. Circa 1982 he was on the cover of either Time or Newsweek in a ‘tard, kicking up over her head, in her 40s, I kept that around the office of that time, for a long while. :^)

You're twenty years off on the date, but I also wondered what Shirley MacLaine was doing in the bedroom with Marilyn and Jack?

“It seems RFKjr’s affairs and other past times drove his first wife to suicide.”

Add to that a nudge or two from him.

I don’t think she would have been sitting next to him in the open limousine if she was in on the plot.

Wow, that was cool. I used to spin that one in the desk, same desk as the Time mag was on the top of, but the Sony D-5 had just come out, and I kept that in the pencil drawer (just the right size and fished the power adapter cord through the back of it, never had any trouble, but locked it at night of course. The first two CDs I got in the wild (I’d accumulated some through the record club before I had a player, because the CDs were hard to find in local stores, there was no www, and the players were crazy expensive) were “Discipline’ and ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’.

No, the Time cover is from 1984 (two years off) and she was 50, not in her 40s.

He just had decades of atrophy and such, no cancer. Oh, and he went to those hot springs just for the hydrotherapy, not to cheat on his budweiser froglike consanguinous wife.

“It’s common knowledge around here, West Palm Beach, that Jackie brought her dalliances to the bunker on our favorite little local island.”

My uncle was a preacher at a church in West Palm Beach in the ‘60s. One of the members was a maid for a family that was a friend and neighbor of the Kennedy family. They partied together all the time.

She said that JFK would bring his women, and Jackie would bring her men. It was a common occurrence, and coming knowledge in the area.

“ What was she doing there in the first place?”
Shirley was one of the sleazy sluts in the group!
She was passed around more than a skunk weed roach!

You could see a huge difference between 1943 and 1944. Cerebral hemorrhage was a common consequence of Cancer.

>>She is nutty as a fruitcake and can’t separate reality from fantasy, she may or may not have seen anything.<<

I agree with you and I have always questioned stories like this . . . Did Shirley MacLaine actually SEE the Kennedys leaving Marilyn’s bedroom? Did she HEAR Jackie threaten to divorce JFK? Did they TELL her that’s what happened? I have my doubts about the accuracy of these statements.

You made me remember how much I liked it, so I started to watch it again and immediately realized again that a really young Jerry Mathers, “The Beaver” is in the setup of the plot.

The birthday celebration was organized by Rat Pack lackey Peter Lawford (Kennedy in-law too). McClain was unofficial member of the Rat Pack
