There was the kazan poo river, now this. Perhaps this is a one off, shit happens (pun intended), but I am curious to see if things like this happen more and more frequently in Russia esp with the coming of winter and cold temps.

Last year there were many examples of failing infrastructure like dams collapsing, hot water lines from central heating and power plants rupturing…..

When you spend 40% of budget on war, and another 30% on internal security how much is left for maintenance

Add to that localities having to pay ever higher recruiting bonuses to maintain recruiting quotas for Putins war, loss of personnel to do that maintenance because they are now at the front, and you will have issues.

Additionally I have read that Moscow is requiring cites to fund the rebuilding of Ukrainian cities they have destroyed and now claimed as Russian.

I will go back to the trope that Russia has all the money, resources, people, ammunition , and equipment they would ever need to make putins goal a reality.

Yet now they are not only importing ammunition and equipment along with consumer goods like automobiles, they are importing manpower the latest being from NK.

Lastly I will mention GDP, the usuals love to say that Russias GDP is “soaring” and that means all is well, war is going good and sanctions are ineffective.

Besides the general fact that you have to take the Russian govt’s numbers which I would take with a mountain of salt, there is record interest rates of 21%( try buying a home or getting capital for a business at that rate and see what happens), 10%+ inflation, and manpower shortages.

Lastl GDP is a measure of goods and services a nation produces. Now imagine much of tho goods that are being manufactured like tanks, ammunition, missiles, apcs, vehicles….are produced and then destroyed or blown upon use, does that production recorded as GDP, actually benefit the country in general?

In other words imagine building 1,000,000 cars that adds to GDP, and then dumping them in the ocean or blowing them up. Positive GDP RIGHT?
