Some still paint the clash between Hitler and Ernst Röhm as a clash between two distinct ideologies, whereas the reality is far more intriguing. So this video provides evidence for the reason Adolf Hitler initiated the Night of the Long Knives in 1934.
This video is discussing events or concepts that are academic, educational and historical in nature. This video is for informational purposes and was created so we may better understand the past and learn from the mistakes others have made.

Hitler supposedly contracted syphilis from a prostitute, not Rohm. Hitler's physician when he was in power, the widely-disliked Theodor Morell, was known as a specialist in the treatment of syphilis and the administration of methamphetamine concoctions for energy. Hitler's arm tremor in his final years is thought to have been due to neurosyphilis, a well-known complication before penicillin and sulfa antibiotics tamed the horrors of syphilis.
Hitler finally approved the order, but he vacillated and had to be talked into executing Roehm. The guy that did the shooting was eventually convicted after the war and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
“Tomorrow Belongs to Me” …
In that powerful “Cabernet” scene, there are two quick shots of an old man sitting at a table, and looking on with disgust. He knew. He really, really knew. I will never forget that.
It’s at around 1:32 of this clip, and again at around 2:19. Whoever came up with the idea for those brief shots was truly a genius.

More and more I feel like that old man.
My apologies for the typo in my post #43. The name of the movie is “ Cabaret”, not “Cabernet”.
I blame this on Chinese hackers who are trying to embarrass me.
A great video which explains much, with excellent sources.
I decided to take a look at it. I was captivated by the delivery and straightforward explanation, as well as the clear sources.
The video does a great job of explaining the NAZI party as one of numerous socialist splits, and how Hitler evolved and succeeded.
The tremor was not caused by the assassination attempt?
“Cabernet” a very good dry wine, often served at cabarets.
Counting Hitler’s women who killed themselves, don’t forget Unity Mitford.
Speaking of Geli, it didn’t help that she was sleeping with a Jewish SS leader, Emil Maurice (SS membership #2, Hitler had membership #1)
So trivia fact - the first two members of the SS likely were of Jewish ancestry.
Very true.
It was my understanding that Theodor Eicke pulled the trigger in Rohms cell
Eicke went on to command 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf, and was killed in a plane crash in the Soviet Union in 1942 or 43
Yeah it was a war between the SS (Hitler’s boys) and the SA (Rohms boys). The SA had become very powerful and were doing service projects in the communities, so they were very popular. The SS was the suppression force, so they were not.
Plus Rohm’s militant homosexuality was know and unpopular with many Nazi higher ups and Berlin was having many reported ‘gay crimes’ overlooked thanks to Rohm’s oversight. Only effeminate gays were prosecuted, while military gay activity was passed over. When Hitler took absolute power after Rohm’s death, this quickly changed and much of the sexual research (which contained Nazi sexual crimes) were the books burned to hide it.
Hitler did get promoted to Lance Corporal (Gefreiter). But no way would a person of his background have been made an officer in the Bavarian army. Trivia fact: the officer that got him his Iron Cross was Jewish.
Yes, he was Hitler's chauffeur.
One fear Hitler had about Rohm was Rohm's connections with the Army and the Freikorps after WWI. When the German army disarmed in November 1918, the machine guns ended up in a warehouse owned by Rohm, who distributed them to the Freikorps to end the communist revolt in Berlin. Rohm was then nicknamed the Machine Gun King. At the point of the Night of the Long Knives the SA had four million members and the army still had only 100,000. So while Rohm actually was a True Believer and his last words were said to be "Oh, Mein Fuhrer", Hitler's paranoia couldn't let him leave a potential rival that powerful alive. And the army came over to Hitler's side very rapidly thereafter.
I’ve been preaching what you just said for some time now.
I’ve seen credit given to Michael Lippert and he was the one convicted in the late 1950s although he claimed unsuccessfully at his trial that he stayed outside the cell and his boss Eicke did the deed alone.
Sad fact is if not for the Freikorps, the Bolsheviks may have taken over all of Europe.
Just one of several people of Jewish ancestry where Hitler personally intervened to save them from the Nazis.
That is certainly Dylan Mulvaney
