Okay - how about this:

Trump nominates Cornyn for DOJ.
Abbott replaces him with a MAGA senator (Paxton?).
Trump fires Cornyn
Trump moves Kash from FBI (current rumor) to DOJ
Trump nominates Gaetz for FBI

or... Trump replaces a fired Cornyn with Gaetz on a Recess appointment.

Then Trump floats rumor that the next senator that decides they won’t confirm Gaetz will be nominated for the spot.

Rinse repeat. It will delay the cleaning out of Justice, but it also helps clean out the Senate.
