From the parts I heard (not all of it) the President looked relaxed and did a great job.

The most hilarious part of the interview was when Rogan cut off the President when the President started to talk about Mars.

It sounded like President Trump knows some stuff we do not—but Rogan refused to let him talk about it.

It seemed to me more like Rogan wanted to find out if Trump knew more than has been admitted, but missed Trump’s point about life NOT as we presently consider life, possibly on Mars. That sounds pretty whacky, and leads to convoluted arguments about whether, for example, life could be based off silicon instead of carbon. The best guess seems to be that Mars is similar enough to Earth that life that developed on Mars would, in its most fundamental ways, not be hugely different from life on Earth.

However... I would argue there may be an entirely different route to life “not as we know it” on Mars. Consider: Assume that life basically similar to life on Earth now DID arise on Mars, and intelligent life, probably a bit more advanced than ours, arose. Tag this at, say, roughly 3-1/2 billion years ago. These beings developed space flight, but not interstellar flight to a useful degree (a very hard nut to crack, if you define “useful degree” as being not over 20 (or 50?) years to the nearest star and back. Or, perhaps, “useful degree” might be the capability to move a population of likely billions somewhere else more habitable, if your own planet is becoming uninhabitable.) As Mars loses its atmosphere, these beings try to adapt as we would, but, then they find a completely different alternative. Given the advances we see in robotics and AI, project ahead 100, 500, or 1000 years, and imagine what WE could do:

What if the “Martians” decided to move their individual intelligences (including their souls, if you like) into new “living” bodies not at all engineered like life as we would hunt for it, but that could survive on the “new” Mars? Moreover, such beasties would almost certainly be capable of developing the design further, and it might “improve” into something almost unrecognizable. With over 3 BILLION years to work with... (Remember “Sargon” from Star Trek? And, maybe ol’ Sargon has self-propulsion too?)

There are, of course, MANY plausible scenarios of life on Mars that we cannot at present readily detect or would not know to look for, including many in which that life did not even originally develop on Mars. Perhaps, Rogan didn’t want to go that deep...
