It sure seems that he could have avoided the war without unreasonable concessions.
Ukraine will be just fine. The Zelensky govt may not be, but the land will be just fine.
A Ukraine military technocratic govt will take over. It will withdraw troops to essentially nothingness, send them home to return to their lives.
As a technocratic gov’t it will have no foreign policy positions. All US and UK intelligence figures on site will likely be executed. The Russians will begin to withdraw its troops after it is clear that new government is in place in Kiev.
The new oblasts in the east and south, and maybe another, will remain or become part of the Russian Federation. The Russian troops will then fully withdraw.
