Reporter Wounded by Bullet Fragment While Democrat Senate Candidate Lucas Kunce Shoots AR-15

A television reporter was wounded by an apparent bullet fragment while Missouri Democrat Senate candidate Lucas Kunce was shooting an AR-15 at a campaign event.

The Kansas City Star reported that the event was held in a rural area north of Kansas City.

The Star also noted, “Kunce was shooting an AR-15 at the time, and was the only person shooting when the injury occurred.”

The reporter, KSHB-TV’s Ryan Gamboa, stood in place while Kunce bandaged the wound.

With the election only two weeks away, Kunce had been stressing his military service as a way to appeal to voters, and he has been running ads that show him shooting guns.

Kunce supports at least one of Washington, DC, Democrats’ central gun controls: raising the minimum age for gun purchases. OnTheIssues.org reported that he wants to “raise the age limit to purchase a gun from 18 to 21.”

Ok, I’ll say it. He’s a JAG, not a real Marine. Leave the rifles to actual tip of the spear men.

Rifle at 5 yards? What is the point?

I did get hit with a piece of spall while I was shooting a pistol at steel at five yards. Jacketed rounds, not a good idea. A little piece of jacket, maybe half and inch long and a few kilometers wide stuck in my cheek, just under my eye (I was wearing glassed).

A little blood trickled down my face and the thought that hit me immediately was: “Did I just shoot myself? That’s stupid!”

Yeah, you figure a lawyer, even a Marine JAG, would have a better sense of liability and protection.

The reporter, Ryan Gamboa, is lucky it wasn't worse.

No kidding, it is definitely close range for an AR15. Fifteen yards isn’t even a good starting range for zeroing the thing.

The guy is floating up there in the moronosphere.

“shooting non-angled steel targets at five yards with scoped rifles.”

A thousand facepalms isn’t enough.

I shot an old bowling ball once at about 10 yards with a .38 Special. The bullet (158-grain round-nosed lead) ricocheted almost straight back and I heard it buzz just over my head. OK, lesson learned, no more of that.

I shot at a target backed up with some plywood that was about 30 feet away as a kid. One of the pellets came back at me and grazed my head. Lesson learned.

Paul Harrell, may he rest in peace, would have had to update his video 'How to Spot a Fake Expert' to include, "He shoots steel so close he wounds a reporter with shrapnel."

Yeah, if you see some of the photos, it's about 5 yards.

...with an AR-15 among other rifles.

If they had invited ‘Tampon Tim’ Walz, he could have stuck one of his tampons in the reporter’s wound... and the other tampon in the wound on his arm as well.

I’m certainly no expert, and even I know that that’s a sure bet for ricochet.
