My friend swears that dried cherries help the most.

AI says:

Allopurinol and cherry juice are both treatments for gout, but they work in different ways:

Allopurinol
A prescription medication that reduces the amount of uric acid produced in the body. It's considered the first-line therapy for preventing gout.

Cherry juice
A complementary treatment that may help relieve gout symptoms. Cherries contain anthocyanins, which may reduce uric acid levels and have anti-inflammatory properties.

Here's some more information about allopurinol and cherry juice for gout:

Effectiveness
Allopurinol is more effective than cherry juice. However, cherry juice may be helpful for people with mild gout or who aren't controlled by allopurinol.

Dosage
The recommended dose of allopurinol is up to 100 mg per day. There isn't a standard dosage for cherry juice, but the Arthritis Foundation suggests drinking a glass per day.

Food and drink
Alcohol and meals that can cause gout flare-ups, like shellfish, can make cherry intake less effective.

Other fruits
Other fruits, like strawberries, grapes, and kiwi, don't have the same beneficial effects on blood uric acid levels as cherries.

What works for one might not work for another.
I had my first attack at 18. Gout on both sides of my Family.
What works for me is staying away from all forms of sugar….even frucctose.

I have to laugh at your tag line. Did you see the story about that woman who had been feeding a racoon?

CBD helps with the inflammation. During a flare, throw in some THC. It is a very good pain killer. I know people here will flame me bacause it is “THE DEVIL’S LETTUCE” but compare the side effects of CBD (there aren’t really any) and THC for the analgesic use, and it is very mild compared to the pain killers I have been given. I gave up beer and certain seafoods and haven’t had a flare in nearly a year. Lots and lots of water to keep you flushed. I would probably get too dehydrated in the summer time so make a point to always carry a big water bottle around. I didn’t know what the hell it was and thought I had broken a bone and not realized. You certainly have my sympathies as it is very very painful and debilitating.

Don’t drink much beer... A shot glass is too much. I had to quit beer altogether- wasn’t sure I would survive that but after a couple of years I don’t miss it anymore. A shot of whiskey is not recommended but it is a lot less likely to feed the gout. Beer, beef, and seafood are the worst. Freshwater fish are fine. Everybody! try pineapple juice for a flareup. It’s cheap and for most of us it tastes good.

Yeah, it’s not sugar for me. I don’t really eat sweets and drink mostly water, wine and espresso.

I think it’s the rare bit of hard liquor and certain foods. So far I’ve ID’d shellfish, asparagus, anchovy, cauliflower, processed turkey, hmm that’s about it.

3 days of fasting (juice and liquid diet), you’ll feel lighter and much better. Juices should be fruit and greens, alternating.

Long story short, I am currently experiencing a cavalcade of symptoms which I associate with spike protein toxicity. Those symptoms have also included gout, but appeared to spike - no pun intended - with my pancreatitis.

You might consider pinging me in FReepmail, as I haven’t yet engaged my spike protein detox, but have mitigated the pancreatitis with corresponding decrease in the growth on my big toe joint (oddly the left foot growth is the only evidence of any gout with little to no pain; very weird. My trigger finger, however, is another matter and, frankly, my dramatically increased intake in fish seems to have been responsible for reducing/managing both).

This is how I found out. At one of my Dr. appointments - routine - I said it feels like I have a nasty bruise on my foot, it hurts! I guess I’m getting arthritis huh? He ran a uric blood test and my level was a 9. I think normal is like 2-4 or something like that.

Allopurinol. I have never had high uric acid but I had frequent bouts of gout when I was in my early 40s. I haven’t had a problem for the last 30 years. Allopurinol is dirt cheap and it works.

There is nothing. Colchicine is the thing that works and is derived from a Crocus.

Stay away from hoppy beers like IPA’s.

I saw this article a few days ago.
The premise is that gout is the result of genetics not diet or lifestyle.

https://scitechdaily.com/groundbreaking-study-shatters-gout-myths-genetics-not-lifestyle-to-blame/

I tried a few different home remedies along with dietary changes.
None of those helped.
I started taking allipurinol about 13 years ago and I have not had a flare up since.
Of course, ask your physician, but in my case, I would much rather take the allipurinol than to have any flare ups.
