Speaking at a campaign event - the same event where he pissed off leftists by raffling off a $1 million check funded by his own money to help drive voter registration initiatives (which leftists claim to love) - Musk recounted the story of how his company, SpaceX, had been tasked by the government to study whether their Starship, which was originally designed to land in the ocean, would hit a shark upon splashdown.
“Like for instance, SpaceX had to do this study to see if Starship would hit a shark,” he explained, as the crowd burst into laughter.
“And I’m like, ‘It’s a big ocean, you know? There’s a lot of sharks. It’s not impossible, but it’s very unlikely,’” he went on, to even more laughter. “And they said - and I think this was from National Marine Fisheries or one of the, you know, whatever it’s called. And they were like, ‘Well you have to do this study on whether you’re gonna hit a shark. And we’re like…’What?’”
He went on to explain that SpaceX finally agreed to do the analysis if it meant they could launch their rocket - only to be told by the government that the agency they were supposed to be working with didn’t have the necessary data on sharks to help them do the study."

Apologies for the headline screw-up
Correct title:
Elon Musk Recounts HILARIOUS Story of the Gov’t Making SpaceX Study If Their Rockets Would Hit Sharks
Similar to politically aimed environmental blockages to SpaceX using more of California’s Vandenberg AF base for launches.
Only if the sharks have frikken laser beams strapped on their heads.
Did they also have to determine if Guam would capsize, if one of their rockets hit the island? Guessing that Congressperson Hank Johnson (D) would need to know...
If I wanted to single-handedly shut down Musk’s operation I’d throw a dead shark with a big lump on his head on the beach after a recovery.
Would be a good time to use some shark repellant.
We took a little drive yesterday, down to the mountains to see the fall colors. We can almost see them from the back high pasture on a very clear day. The roads are one continuous speed bump, as if I should expect better. My wife asks why they don't fix the roads. No money, we spend it on everything else but the basics that are to be provided for our tax dollars. It was about a 200 mile round trip drive. We agreed the mountains were pretty but we see much the same out the back window across the pasture so we'll just stay home. Last time we made that trip was on December 1, 2017.
The main street in town has been untouched since we got here 55 years ago. Still has the same broken pavement slabs. It is part of a US Highway.
Democrats hate people that thrive on their own......which a concept this country is supposed to be about BTW.
They want everyone dependant on the government. That’s why when they are in power small businesses suffer and covid was a real opportunity for them to put many out of business and they did...all about power and control.
Musk gets the last laugh when Trump appoints Musk Director of Government Reduction and Efficiency.
Wow, I was unaware of the entire selection of oceanic repellents.
