I could have told them that even before they brought them.
German insurance company came out with numbers last week....one out of every three Germans who buy an E-car...will ease out of the E-car in 3 to 4 years....going back to a gas/diesel vehicle.
Crook said they would have to spend time at an unsecured public charging station while protecting the person.
They could always tow a generator with them...
heh heh heh..
Cybertruck.
At least they tried two cars first instead of doing 100.
I’m retired LE and I’ve personally seen how cops treat equipment for more than 30 years. The cops will break these cars early and often. And I’m so ready to see one of these things run out of juice in the middle of a pursuit. Now if they were fuel cell electrics that may be possible. But straight electrics?
Nope.

My next-door bought a Tesla. After a few winter months, he replaced it with an F-150.
The Teslas themselves aren’t bad. The demands of the job is what makes them unusable. Important distinction.
Government agents spend money like there is no tomorrow. OPM (Other Peoples’ Money) seems to be the theme. Spend...spend...spend to advance their idiocy on every level.
You need to Ban Government from banning whatever they feel like banning ,LOL
ballistic panels ? to protect the battery because criminals will shoot those first
Leftist (plus one Texan here) Response: ‘It’s not Tesla’s fault that these policemen are unable to adapt to new technology’.
Seems like DeLoreans with an enhanced Flux Capacitor would be a better investment.
An EV might make sense for an urban apartment dweller who commutes less than twenty miles per day.
It’s just a matter of time when you go camping a see signs NO EV AUTOS ALLOWED STB.
Fear of forest fires are real.
STB = Smokey The Bear
Even more ridiculous are electric fire engines and ambulances. Current nt battery technology doesn’t have the stamina to support emergency lights, radios and be able to pump water or keep life support equipment running. St Paul, MN recently purchased an EV fire vehicle, but hidden in the fine print of the story there is a diesel engine on board to run the pumps.
Sounds like adding a whole lot of current draw and weight, which will greatly reduce the vehicle’s range. Not to mention all the hours spent routinely out of service to recharge. Brilliant. So they obviously can’t be patrol cars — but the brass can use them as take-home vehicles, though!!!
Some of this is really stupid. For instance; “It remains unclear how officers would be charging the electric vehicles, Crook said.”. Why can’t they be charged at the police station? My brother charges their Y on a 30amp dryer circuit at home. Charging is not a problem, especially if 60 amp circuits are installed.
Great way to keep crime high while importing criminals willing to do the rough jobs Americans wont do.
In Tesla’s defense, the problem is not the brand but the type of car.
