Lilly Ledbetter, a former Alabama factory manager whose lawsuit against her employer made her an icon of the equal pay movement and led to landmark wage discrimination legislation, has died at 86.
Ledbetter's discovery that she was earning less than her male counterparts for doing the same job at a Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant in Alabama led to her lawsuit, which ultimately failed when the Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that she had filed her complaint too late. The court ruled that workers must file lawsuits within six months of first receiving a discriminatory paycheck — in Ledbetter's case, years before she learned about the disparity through an anonymous letter.
Two years later, former President Barack Obama signed into the law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which gave workers the right to sue within 180 days of receiving each discriminatory paycheck, not just the first one...

Interesting what leftist icon she is, according to the story.
Women in the People’s Republic of China enjoy equal rights with men in all spheres of life, political, economic, cultural and social, and family life.Just in case anyone was mistaken about where Obama was intentionally sending this country.
The state protects the rights and interests of women, applies the principle of equal pay for equal work for men and women alike and trains and selects cadres from among women.

“The court ruled that workers must file lawsuits within six months of first receiving a discriminatory paycheck”
Typical Legal System designed to avoid providing Justice, even to those who can afford [time and money and emotional hassle] to use the Legal System to try to obtain Justice.
Don’t forget the Soviet Union. Although in all fairness both the Soviet Union and China are high IQ nations. Unfortunately many in our population have low IQs, and the effects of such policies are much worse here.
How is it that allegedly high IQ nations allowed such godless and vile ideologies to rule over them? Perhaps you should rethink that?
High IQ does not equal independent thinking ability. They can be manipulated by propaganda in the absence of countervailing messages.
So “high IQ” people can countermand the negative effect of totalitarian socialism, seriously? and the USA cannot survive it because of the alleged prevalence of “low IQ” people?
I’m glad Trump does not think so about the USA. And neither do I.
I think he does agree with me. I stand by my statement. Look, even soft communism has brought this country almost to its knees. Just look at our cities. Old Moscow or Peking was never this bad. Imagine how hopeless we would be if hard communism - USSR style - was implemented here.
You need to step back and listen to yourself.
The USSR and Red China have worse social situations than we do. What they have now that we do not currently have is the manufacturing base that the elite left in the US handed over to them.
IQ is not a factor; even the Declaration of Independence noted that “all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed”. And the people of the USSR and Red China were certainly more tolerable of a lower moral standard and still are today.
Thomas Sowell debunks it completely in this video from "Uncommon Knowledge" with Peter Robinson here:

Hint: It involves childbirth, child rearing, and intentional career choices by women.
If I am going to listen to an opinion on this, I am going to focus on the intellectual analysis of Thomas Sowell rather than a hagiographic account from some Leftist about one of their cultural touchstones. I know this particular article is from Fox, but we hear it all the time from every imaginable source.
JFTR, the article is actually from the Associated Press. Fox News has been republishing their stories on their own website for decades.
Thanks...I am not a consumer of news (haven’t watched it for going on 30 years now) so that is good to know.
